Existing products have wide slits on the top surface that act as water channels, making it impossible to use fine gravel or soil. Therefore, wool mats or similar materials have been used to prevent gravel or soil from entering the unit.
Even when gravel or soil larger than the slits is used, fine particles are still mixed in. Gravel or soil that slips through the slits is pushed back into the tank by the air or pump near the outlet where the water flow is strong, but it gradually accumulates in more distant areas, blocking the water channel and preventing the filter from functioning properly.
The Tot's slits are 0.4 mm wide (compared to 1 mm or wider in other products), so gravel or soil larger than 0.5 mm cannot enter the unit.
Furthermore, the unit's interior is double-walled and equipped with a catch tray to catch particles smaller than 0.4 mm that slip through the slits, ensuring sufficient flow at the bottom of the unit. A bottom plate also prevents any gaps that allow particles larger than 0.5 mm to enter the unit.
In addition, the extendable discharge pipe is equipped with an O-ring (made of genuine silicone) to prevent it from being too loose or too tight.
